For those of you who read and appreciated my prior writing about firearms, reloading, and DIY shooting sports ideas: fret not. I will be resuming writing on those subjects. The change will be an addition, not a subtraction! I will now also be blogging about many other outdoor related activities. Hiking, outdoor photography, fishing, hunting, four wheeling, and even dirt biking will take up real estate on this blog from time to time. To kick off this new venture, I'll be writing about a recent trip to a beautiful part of the US, complete with photo gallery and a chance for my readership's input! Click below the photo to continue the article. Here is a teaser photo to tide you over before the jump! A recent weekend trip took my Fiancé, my dog, and me to Northwestern Arkansas. Rogers, to be specific. If you're an outdoors loving person and ever in this region, you owe it to yourself to drop by and spend some time here. Not only are the downtown areas of Rogers and Bentonville quaint and fun for your city time, but also the surrounding countryside is unrivaled in this area. The fishing in and around Beaver Lake is phenomenal. I've been on a guided fishing trip on the lake and caught some insane striped bass with my future father-in-law (see photo below.) The fly fishing opportunities around the lake on the various creeks and the White river are also quite good. There are a number of species of fish in the area. Everything from brown and rainbow trout, smallmouth and largemouth bass, walleye, crappie, and nearly everything in between are found in this part of Arkansas. If the fishing doesn't appeal to you as much, perhaps the driving and hiking in the area will. The scenery is quite beautiful. In the summer months, the wildflowers are in abundance. The mountainous areas are green with a variety of tree species. Several of the highways are rife with elevation changes and twisties that will make a driving or motorcycle enthusiast grin from ear to ear. There are a number of hiking trails near the lake, as well as several well known walking trails of the paved variety in the cities of the area. In summation, any outdoors enthusiast would feel quite at home in this Northwestern corner of the Natural State. If you are interested in travel and tourism, be sure to make this area a destination at some point in your life. I have just barely nicked all there is to do in this area with my short article, so I challenge you to get out there and find the outdoors for yourselves! Please enjoy this photo gallery from my most recent trip to the area. I hope you will enjoy this rebranding of Common Man. I invite you to please comment with your suggestions, critiques, compliments, or even your experiences with this part of Arkansas below. Thank you and remember to get outdoors.
